Poetry Inn
Intimate. Vinous. Perched above the noise.
38.4025° N, 122.3586° W
Five suites on a hillside above the Stags Leap District, each named for a poet. Breakfast is three courses made by a chef who trained with Daniel Boulud and now cooks for ten people. Go here when you want Napa without the noise of Napa.
Arrival
The driveway is steep and gated. By the time you reach the top, the valley is already below you. The reception desk doubles as a bar. A living room leads to an open terrace with what many guests describe as the best view in Napa Valley. They are not wrong.
The Register
Five suites, each named for a poet — Dickinson, Whitman, Cummings, Frost, Stevenson. Every suite runs to at least 950 square feet. Marble bathrooms. Wood-burning fireplaces. Outdoor showers with the valley below.
Arc of a Day
Before 8am: coffee on your private terrace. Hot air balloons move through the morning mist. This is not a scheduled activity. It simply happens.
Afternoon: a private tasting at Sullivan Rutherford Estate, arranged by the inn.
Evening: your terrace, a bottle from the cellar, the valley lit gold below.
“Napa from above — five suites, a steep gated drive, and a view of the valley that makes everything else feel like noise.”
What This Place Is For
Poetry Inn is for people who find the standard Napa experience beside the point. Quieter, more considered, a place that rewards people who know what they came for. You will feel like a well-looked-after guest rather than a customer.
